Just returned from a truly enriching few days in Budapest, where I had the privilege of participating in two remarkable ArbCEE events that brought together arbitration practitioners from across Central and Eastern Europe.

🌿 At the 3rd ArbCEE Arbitration Retreat, I was honored to co-lead a discussion on annulment grounds under the UNCITRAL Model Law - specifically Art. 34(2)(a)(iii) (excess of mandate). It was a pleasure to share the panel with Ilija Mitrev Penushliski and Sarolta Szabó, whose insights made our exchange both rigorous and inspiring.

The Retreat offered a rare opportunity for deep comparative dialogue, and I'm grateful to the organizing team - Veronika Korom, Balázs Fazakas, Sarolta Szabó, Manuela Grosu LL.M. PhD, and Sára Darnót LL.M.- for curating such a thoughtful and collegial space, along with a rich social program.

🪑 As part of the Retreat's side events, I also spoke at the 4th stop of the ArbCEE "Take a Seat!" roadshow, where we explored enforcement of arbitration agreements across the region.

I was joined by an outstanding group of panelists - Ilma Kasumagić, Piotr Golędzinowski, Boris Baklaja, FCIArb, Serghei Covali excellently moderated by Richard Schmidt,- and deeply appreciated the perspectives shared by Stevan Dimitrijevic, Zrinka Mustafa Prelić, Ileana Smeureanu, and Sára Darnót LL.M. on court assistance to arbitration in their jurisdictions.

Special thanks to Lakatos, Köves and Partners, Hungarian Arbitration Association, and Arbitration Court attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for hosting us so generously.

And to the ArbCEE team - Iuliana Iancu, Veronika Korom, Peter Rižnik, and Piotr Bytnerowicz- thank you for your tireless work and vision.

Already looking forward to the 2026 edition - and to continuing these important conversations across the region.
