Not every arbitration conference offers such a fantastic view and a compelling topic for discussion as the 2026 Italian Arbitration Day did at the breathtaking Sala della Protomoteca, Campidoglio, in Rome.

This year’s theme - "Arbitration in the Age of Economic and Legal Disruption: of Tariffs, Sanctions and Global Uncertainty" - is particularly significant for Ukraine, given the challenges we face.

As a speaker on the panel "What Remedies?", I had the pleasure of sharing insights alongside distinguished colleagues Alberto Fortun, Dr. Hamed Merah , and andrea carlevaris. I focused on issues related to hardship, force majeure, and the effects of governing law on contracts, discussing these important topics in the context of our experiences from Ukraine, the Middle East, Latin America. Our discussions highlighted the diverse approaches we can take to tackle the common challenges we all encounter in today’s complex landscape.

A special thank you to Associazione Italiana per l'Arbitrato - AIA, Camera Arbitrale di Milano, co-chais Maria Beatrice Deli, andrea carlevaris, Stefano Azzali, and the entire organizing team for creating such an enriching forum for dialogue. I look forward to continuing these crucial conversations in the future.
